Nothing screams September like heading back to school. Though we are long past the days of book bags and lockers, some of the lessons we learned from our high school days are still prevalent today. We asked some of the team here at HQ to reflect on their high school beauty routines and tell us how those experimental days shaped how they get ready now. We made it to Friday and we’re closing out this series with Margit, Retail Account Manager. Check out her story below!
I went to high school in Salt Lake City, UT, circa 200-2005, and tan skin and blonde hair were queen! My beauty routine at that time included a tanning bed, bleaching my hair, bronzer, mascara, lip gloss, and lots of time spent tweezing my eyebrows!
Damaging my skin in a tanning bed is the biggest regret of my youth, so these days I really try to embrace my natural, fair skin tone. Embrace the paste, that’s what I say! My beauty routine has much more of an emphasis on skin care–a great lotion and under eye cream are key. I use a tinted moisturizer or CC cream with SPF for the added skin care benefits as a base, and use cosmetics that compliment my fair skin, rather than try to change my natural complexion. I’ve traded out my bronzer for a blush (I LOVE the butter LONDON blush in the shade Violet) and use our On The Glow pen to add dimension by highlighting, rather than go crazy trying to contour (who has the time?!). I usually keep it pretty simple with eye shadow, Chantilly Lace and Satin from the Pretty Proper Palette are my go-to shades. I rarely leave the house without applying Double Decker Lashes mascara and Tailored Brow Tint to fill in my brows from the above mentioned over-plucking of the early 2000’s.
