January is a the perfect time to hit the reset button. We’ve said goodbye to the previous year and can look ahead to new opportunities with fresh eyes. It’s also a great time to get back into a health and fitness routine, as you’ve surely resolved to this year. We asked our friends at Mira Fitness to give us some great tips on keeping our fitness (and life) goals for the year.
New Year’s resolution keepers, goal diggers, manifesters…If you don’t naturally fall into one of those categories, you probably get discouraged when you set out with good intentions to make positive change in your life and fall off course. But guess what? When it comes to goals, you can always hit the reset button. At Mira, we’re all about helping women look and feel good from the inside out, because when you do, you’re absolutely unstoppable. Keep the desire to live your best life, just change your strategy. Here are 3 easy ways to achieve your goals — for real this year.
Let’s be clear: there’s no such thing as a dumb goal. Being honest with yourself about what you really want to achieve helps you put the best plan into action. Don’t just say you want to lose weight or go to the gym more. Write SMART goals.
Specific-What do you want to change and where do you want to focus?
Meaningful-Why is this important to you?
Action-Oriented-What steps will you take to achieve your goal?
Realistic-How do you know you can achieve this goal?
Timely-When will you hit it by?
Baby Steps are Still Steps
Setting a big goal, like finally taking a trip to Europe, running a marathon, or learning a new language, can seem overwhelming at first. Write down your SMART goal, then focus on the path you can take to get there. Learning a new language is a BFD, but setting a goal to sign up for a French class by the spring isn’t so scary, and will help you stay on course. C’est magnifique!
Yes, You’re Worth It
Sadly, sometimes we don’t hit our goals because we don’t think we deserve to be happy or we’re too self-conscious to go after what we want. A little positivity goes a long way, which is why we packed the Mira app with inspirations to remind you that you are worth the effort, the ups and downs, and lessons that will come up on your path to greatness. When you catch yourself having a negative though, pause, take a deep breath and remember that you deserve the best. When your head and heart are aligned, you can achieve anything.
Above all else, Do You in 2016.
