We get A LOT of questions about basecoats and tips for the best way to apply our lacquer. A great manicure starts with treating your nails right and our 8-free nail polish, formulated without the nasty stuff (like formaldehyde). Here at bL, we live and breathe our crafted with care credo, with no cuticle clipping. Check out our step-by-step, foolproof DIY mani system that we think you’ll fall in love with.
Prep Nails & Cuticles:
Worried about getting rid of cuticles? Well, don’t be. Clipping can cause infection if you cut too deep. We’ve all been there–and it hurts! Skip the clipping and apply Melt Away Cuticle Exfoliator to each cuticle.
While you wait for the product to soak in, file and shape your nails. (Have you seen our new nail file & buffer with our wallpaper? It’s a handbag must-have.)
Gently push back cuticles with a cuticle pusher or your thumbnail, then remove any residue with a Scrubbers 2-in-1 Prep & Remover Wipe.
Apply one coat of Nail Foundation Priming Basecoat to help fill in nail ridges and prevent staining, and let dry. (Bonus: the basecoat dries super fast.)
Apply 2 layers of your favorite butter LONDON nail color, letting each coat dry in between.
Apply a coat of Hardwear Shine UV Topcoat to protect the polish color from fading (and help prevent chips).
Perfect Your Mani:
Wait 2 minutes after applying your topcoat, then speed up your drying time with P.D. Quick Dry Conditioning Drops—add 1-2 drops to each nail. (It helps prevent nicks and dries in a flash!)
Once your nails are dry, perfect your mani and keep your cuticles in top shape with QuickFix Moisturizing Cuticle Balm. The non-greasy formula has a massage applicator to hug your cuticles, for less mess than other brands.
And there you have it! The simple steps for a great manicure at home. Make sure to tag us @butterlondon on Instagram, or use hashtag #butterlondon to show us your beautiful manicures and your fave lacquers.
